EFSI Funds
The EFSI fund is part of the Investment Plan for Europe by 2015. It can be used to finance sectors such as infrastructure, education, research and innovation, including renewable energy and energy efficiency
Is delivered by Community guarantees, the European Bank of investment funds and contributions from private investors and has been planned until 2018.
From September 2016 the Council working on a new proposal for the amendment of the Regulation which dates back to 2015.
Upon the approval of the changes will take place the following changes:
- The duration of the fund would be extended until 2020;
- The EU budget guarantee would be increased by EUR 10 billion to a total amount of EUR 26 billion (of which EUR 16 billion of the initial guarantee would be available until mid-2018);
- The contribution of the European Investment Bank (EIB) would rise to EUR 7.5 billion (from the current EUR 5 billion);
- The goal of the total investment of the fund would rise to EUR 500 billion;
- The support of the FEIS should easily be combined, if necessary, with that of other EU funds, such as structural funds and European and other investments;
At December 15, 2016 it indicates that the board has "welcomed" the extension agreement that the co-legislators should be adopted in the first half of 2017.
